XM SATELLITE RADIO has announced the addition of two one hour commercial-free BIG BAND JUMP programs to its channel four programming. A different one hour program will be heard each week in each time slot. The first XM BBJ program was heard at 9 PM on Sunday the 11th of June. The second BIG BAND JUMP hour is set for the following Wednesday and each Sunday and Wednesday at 9 PM thereafter.

The BIG BAND JUMP broadcast by XM SATELLITE RADIO is in the same format as the two hour program heard for two decades on commercial radio stations, except without commercial content. The background stories about the music is one of the unique properties of BBJ, and those anecdotes about musicians and composers will continue to be a part of the XM version of BIG BAND JUMP.

Marlin Taylor, the executive in charge of what is known by XM as 'Track Four' said, "We're excited to have BIG BAND JUMP as a part of XM programming. BBJ has proved to be an audience favorite over the years, and XM listeners have suggested we carry the programs." Don Kennedy, host of BIG BAND JUMP told reporters, "The music is ageless, and the anecdotes about the people who make the music help it come alive in the mind of the listener. BBJ is dedicated to keeping Great American Music in front of the public."

Kennedy said XM and BBJ had been in discussions about use of the program for at least two years. XM's dedication to serving all elements of their listenership culminated in the agreement early in the year, with programming details worked out for the June 11th start.
